I found this alternative rule by the author of the game about A guns jamming.
Basically, since an A Damage plane has twin machine guns (and a B Damage plane just one), if an A Damage plane's guns jam, then it does B Damage (as only one gun jams) for three movements. Of course, if two jams are drawn against an A plane, then both guns jam.
He says this adds more realism (and more complexity) to the game.
