Winter Fantasy Starts Next Thursday! Who's Going?

Ghostwind

First Post
The RPGA event Winter Fantasy kicks off next Thursday (23rd) here in Fort Wayne and I am curious who all plans to attend and what you'll be playing? I know I plan on being there every day but Friday. I am anxious to try out some Living Dragonstar, Living Kalamar and Living Spycraft... :)

Arriving by van with five other crazy dudes from New England on Wednesday Night and leaving Sunday morning. Playing Living Greyhawk and hopefully some other Living stuff or Classics.

Jim

I'm going for Friday only to play "Assault on the Vault".
Perhaps Bill will be the lucky GM who kills my character...

Ysgarran.

I'm one of the crazy folks driving with Crispy Critter... :)

Looking forward to a bunch o' Living Greyhawk and the CoC event.

So, Ghostwind, any recommendations for great places to eat/drink when we are there?

Probably not, I don't plan on judging the Vault (although I considered it :D). I'm judging Return to the Isles and Fury of a Cold Man's Heart, plus the Fiesta slot.

Places to Eat

Well, you're pretty much doomed to fast food if you want stuff near the Grand Wayne Convention Center. There's Arby's, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Subway, and maybe McDonald's (it might be closed by then). If you like Greek food, there is a really good King Gyro's within a couple of blocks walk. There's a large liquor store right across the street to the Convention Center for those after hours games. ;)

If you don't mind a 6 block walk, there's an excellent bar that has decent food called Columbia St. West. They usually have a live band on the weekends. There are some other little hole-in-the wall places but I haven't been downtown lately to see what's still there or open on the weekends. Be warned, beer is a little expensive at the bars.

If you are lucky enough to have access to a vehicle, then your options increase dramatically. There's a new outdoor mall a few minutes away to the west that has some really good restaurants around it that vary in price (including one with vale parking). There's also a large stadium seat multiplex movie theater that is perfect for watching Two Towers or any other movie (since you never have to look through a person's head and the sound system is incredible).

Anything else you want to know?? :)

Just out of curiosity, define "a little expenisive" please. :)

As I recall, the last time i was in Columbia St., bottles of beer were $2.00-2.50 depending on brand...

Woo! That's not bad at all :)

And Taco Bell, Arby's and Subway in walking distance? Sounds like Convention heaven!

And I have heard rumors that the Convention site sells beer by the pitcher...
