Foe to Frog used to be a level 1 Daily called Slimy Transmutation (from the Red Box). I'll keep the old version, TYVM. :)

That's what I was thinking. I even opened my Red Box and looked at slimy transmutation and it's exactly the same, except that foe to frog lets you choose a tiny creature other than a toad if you feel sassy.

Now you can take slimy transmutation at 1 and foe to frog at 5... ;)

:hmm:

Ah, the beauty of exception-based design. Ten thousand near-identical but subtly different ways different to tie your shoes. :)

Hey, you can use both... and now you can turn people into squirrels and stuff too.

I have been kinda wondering how much any of the red book stuff was actually real. I mean, magic missile clearly changed :)

But, eh, it's in the Compendium, guess there's lot of transmuting into harmless animals briefly.

True. The Red Box is a transitional product in more ways than one, it seems. I wonder if the other transmutation spell, Stone Blood, sees a reprint in HotFw.

I support my local charity by donating $1.00. That's pretty much what Wizards means by support of the older stuff and the only reason is because the Bard and Barbarian are in those books. If those two classes had been in the Heroes books then they probably wouldn't have mentioned the PHB2.

Creating a few powers that some other classes just happen to be able to use isn't supporting AEDU.

So its an entire book that services AEDU classes and no others but its still not support, what would an appropriate level of support be? A power book? Or would you consider that too much bloat and dismiss it entirely?

I would have figured 3 out of 4 classes from phb 2 would qualify as a nod to phb 2.

Frankly I rather enjoy the new format that mixes the fluff of places like the feywild and classes, allowing people to have something interesting and flavorful to choose from, I also like some of the new witch powers, since they seem to concentrate on an almost non lethal approach to your standard wizard. It also puts the witch in melee, giving it a much different feel but alowing ,me to mix and match some standard wizard options (and familiars, hows that for some old school support!)

Now that the initial tumult and shouting have died . . .

. . . I want to weigh in (lightweight that I am) on this "Witch" excerpt from the upcoming "Heroes of the Feywild" supplement:

First impression: "Long overdue."

Second impression: I like this more than the Monk.

Third impression: Wait, what? There were witches before there were any Sorcerers, who have magic in their blood?
(I can almost see this: arcane magic came originally from the deities. After that, families who had witchly power selected for the ability, so the trait became blood-borne in some families thereafter.)

Fourth impression: The original source of the (arcane) power of witches was Sehanine, not Corellon? Wasn't Sehanine the daughter of Corellon? (Or was that 2nd Edition only?)

I'm still trying to retcon this in my mind to make it consistent with what came before. (Wish me luck?)
