Sounds like a good idea, though it should only affect levels of which the character is in the spellcasting class, like how the familiar is.

I never said it was worthless, just that in our group when they're never used, they're EFFECTIVELY worthless, thus the hp is much better, especially considering that Wiz/Sorc have low hp to begin with.

Just give them a d6 HD. I play with Arcana Evolved and the minimum HD for all classes is a d6. There are no balance problems due to HD.

Same here-- I boost Wizard, Sorceror, and Psion to d6 and bump Rogue, Bard, and Artificer to d8.

I don't even take away the Wizard's familiar for it, though I do replace the Sorceror's familiar with the Draconic Heritage feat.

Wow, 99% of the Wizards I've seen would yoink that Imp. Toughness in a heart beat. I'm sure Familiars are useful... just never seen one really used.
