Wizard Specialization, which school?

Transmutation specialty, dropping Evocation and enchanting. I just thought a lot of Necromancy was too good to give away, and I like illusions.

Transmutation up to level five...then prestige with Master Specialist. Only real way to go. Forgo the schools of: Enchantment and Illusion!

Though it has already been decided, I figure i'd toss in my $0.02.

My personal faves for specializing are Transmutation and Divination, followed by Illusion, Necromancy and Cnjuration. I just rarely enjoyed playing specialist Abjurers, Evokers or Enchanters as much as those others.*

However, I don't usually decide what schools to drop based on overall utility, but rather, on the basis of choices unique to the character core campaign. So, yes, I have had specialists who gave up Abjuration or Transmutation because it was consistent with that PC's preferences,













* although not truly a specialist Wizard, I DID play a Sorcerer whose spells were almost all Evocations and a Conjurations with an electrical theme.
