This is just a thought or idea!

I wish, I as a DM could buy prepainted mini's like WizKid's Mage Knight for all of the D&D monsters, except with out the click base that WizKids use.

Does anyone else have an similar interest?

Yup, try e-bay.

I am not talking about the metal figures. I am referring to the plastic figures sold by the pack as WizKid does. I really think this could be a viable option for many DM's who just don't have the time to paint or money to out bid others on E-Bay. I have been using the round pieces that they publish with dungeon magazine, but I would prefer a mini's!

You can get the Mage Knight ones online as singles at reasonable prices (that way you can pick & choose). A good source is http://www.pjcc.com .

I recommend you get the later sets (Unlimited & Sinister) because the paint jobs have much improved. Indeed, the figures that are available separately have excellent paint jobs (look at the Dragons & the Iron Rain Hill Giant). I have the Limited Edition figure of the Hill Giant & the detail is incredible.

Regarding the bases, all you need to do is put them in the freezer for a little while. Apparently you can just pop them off their bases easily that way. Glue them on some of the plastic bases that are easily available and you are in business.

em4Miniatures sell packs of nicely painted metal minis in packs of 5 that cost barely more than Mage Knight's poorly painted plastic figs. See:

Very nice figures on that site, but they need more of a selection. I do know that dwarven forge offers some mini's, but it would be nice to see a company put out a line of mini's from WOTC MMI & MMII books using a similar production method that WizKid uses. I am not by any means saying WizKids products are the best and look as good as hand-painted figures, but they will do for most people I think... It just seems like a logical product...

But of course :) BTW, obviously you want to stay away from the Uniques (the prices at the site I quoted are quite high, if you like one so much, try eBay - most can be gotten cheaper there).

BTW, I challenge anyone to find a better value for your money than "The Iron Rain Hill Giant" in a standard metal miniature. Even an unpainted figure tends to run higher at that size. The paint job is just the icing on the cake. All for only about $16.

Assuming, of course, that you want a hill giant with dwarven gunners mounted on his shoulders...

Dude, everyone who is anyone has three dwarven gunners mounted on their hill giants. Seriously though, removing the gunners would not be too hard if someone was interested enough.
