WizKids to Release Baldur's Gate 3 Miniatures

More BG3 content is coming to the tabletop.

WizKids will release a new miniatures set featuring characters and creatures from Baldur's Gate 3. The two new sets, which are both being released under WizKids' D&D Icons of the Realms banner, will feature characters and monsters from the popular 2023 Dungeons & Dragons video game. Adventures From Baldur's Gate is a new booster set containing 40 miniatures, featuring an assortment of monsters and characters from the video game. While WizKids has produced miniatures of many of the creatures found in the set (which includes goblins, githyanki, and a spectator among other creatures), this set notably features designs pulled from Baldur's Gate 3 as opposed to the standard D&D style. Several monsters exclusive to the video game also appear in the set, including a Slayer of Bhaal and Necromite of Myrkul, also appear in the new set as does Minthara.

The second product is a new Baldur's Gate 3 - Characters boxed set, featuring pre-painted minis of Astarion, Karlach, Gale, Shadowheart, Wyll, Lae’zel, and Withers. Sadly, it doesn't appear that the Dark Urge (the popular dragonborn sorcerer player character) did not make the cut.

Wizards of the Coast has pushed the characters of Baldur's Gate 3 to the forefront of some of their Dungeons & Dragons marketing, especially with the Project Sigil VTT. Astarion also appeared in the 2024 Player's Handbook, while a very Baldur's Gate 3-esque mind flayer appeared on the alt-cover for the 2025 Monster Manual.

Both sets will be released in February 2025, with pre-orders available on WizKids' assorted website.

This is cool, but how could I ever use one of these minis to represent my own character? Everyone at the table would be thinking "that's Astarion!" and for that matter so would I.

Still might get it, though.

In my OSE/BX game (old school D&D) they have hirelings (as groups are meant to be closer to 8 characters than 4) and they currently have some D&D cartoon hirelings thanks to the minis. Presto is their Hireling wizard. Hank has been in the party as has Sheila.

So yes Astarion can join as a Hireling Thief (or whatever I want him to be).

Yeah, "Iconic" NPCs are the obvious use for these.

That, or a PC that REALLY wears their inspiration om their sleeve (I'm really tempted to build a Wyll/Halsin/Karlach knockoff, myself).
