I'm sorry, but is that the watered down (since WW2) German Army?

Yup. It seems that I will do basic training at some kind of electronic warfare unit, and for the time after that, I am supposed to serve my time at an Army university in Munich... but it remains to be seen whether this will actually happen (crosses fingers).

Very cool of WOTC to do this for our beleaguered military personnel serving abroad. As a former military man myself, and with two other former Marines in my group, this news generated a lot of goodwill towards WOTC from our little corner of the world!

I just got back from having lunch with my parents (who are pretty much anti-RPGing) where I told them this story. Both were impressed.

It just shows, that while WotC managers are human and may make marketing decisions we don't like, they do care.

Now, they may have just done it for PR, but until we see the pictures on their website or some news article about it, why don't we give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they just want the picture to make themselves feel good over in Renton. I mean, it would be pretty cool having a picture of America's finest using your product, regardless of the PR implications. My point is, they might not have done it for a tangible reward.

I am sure we could arrange a care package as well.
Good idea Hal. We at the Gamer's Bag could send some dice bags, which I believe would probably be in short supply in Bosnia. I started RPing in the Army myself, so I know exactly what those guys are going through over there. Is 30 the needed number? We figured we'd send our small-sized Americana bags, it just seems appropriate with the stars & stripes...

Speaking of dice bags - do these guys have dice? If not, maybe we here at EN World could help them out in that manner too. 30 guys sharing one set of dice would just suck.

Oh my, and what if they did it for PR? Is there anything wrong with PR? The troops get to game, and WotC gets PR, everyone wins! That's good, not bad.
