Gaming Update

I've been bugging my friend to actually tell me about his adventure, but so far his response has been pretty minimal. Here's all I've gotten from him so far...

You'd think members of the military would know better. You've only a few hit points left, there's a large number of goblins on the other side of a door trying to break intop the room, and an escape route right behind you. What do you do? "I get out my bow (in a really small room!!!!) and prepare to fight them." Sigh...

UPDATE on the Dice Situation

The first manufacturer I spoke with took FOREVER (just finally heard from them yesterday) to tell me that they couldn't help us out. *sigh* So, I've contacted another major dice manufacturer. If this doesn't work out, that will leave only one more major manufacturer to ask.

On our (The Gamer's Bag) end, we've completed the dice bags, except for the last touches (cording all of them).

My question to everyone is: if this manufacturer can't help us, do we just want to go ahead and ask people here to donate some dice as was suggested through the EN World store, or do we want to ask the last manufacturer?

dicey questions

I'd say go ahead and ask the last dice manufacturer, I mean free never hurt anyone :) If our corporate appeals don't work, I'm sure frrom what we've seen posted in this thread that some people will be happy to pitch cash towards the solution.

any news?
Not yet unfortunately, and I know they read my e-mail. I'll try to contact them by phone soon, they won't be in the office for another 40 minutes apparently. I'll try to get an answer either way today. I really thought the companies would jump at a chance to do something like this, but I guess I was wrong. :(

New Update

Okay, here's the scoop: I called and spoke with the sales manager. He told me that our request has been forwarded to the Big Boss Man, but he is overseas (Germany) right now. However, the sales manager is going to try to get in touch with him and get authorization to send us the dice we need. I told him that if they would donate 30 sets, we (EN World) would handle the rest (I mentioned that we'd probably buy them through the EN World store and everyone would be encouraged to buy their dice for this venture (is collusion a skill? ;) )

I don't want to mention the company's name until we get a commitment, I hope everyone doesn't mind the lack of information. I figure those that turned us down won't get any bad press this way and the one that helps us will get good karma out of it.

I'll post another update when I hear from the sales manager, everyone keep their fingers crossed!

FYI, on our end the dice bags are all complete and ready to go now. :D

We're Getting the Dice!

I'm pleased to announce that Chessex (www.chessex.com)has stepped up and has donated 30 sets of dice. They shipped them out to me last Friday, I should have them soon. :D

So - now I need the folks here at EN World to donate the other 30 sets (or more) so that these soldiers can game!

As was mentioned before, I think the best way would be for everyone wanting to donate to do so through the EN World online store.

I would encourage folks to consider donating dice from Chessex, but any dice would be appreciated by our boys in Bosnia. If someone (moderators, Morrus) would contact me and let me know how we can go about this, I'd appreciate it. It would be easiest if the donated dice were shipped to me and then I will combine them with the Chessex donation and our bags and forward them to SGT Hinton.

P.S. - Special thanks to Chessex Sales Manager Joe for his gracious attitude and all of his help! :D
