Maybe we needed to distinguish between the Dread Necromancer & its counterpoint the Pleasant, Jolly, Warm-Fuzzy Necromancer. :p )

He's the one who raises undead and dresses them up in cute fuzzy costumes

Unnecessary. Jerry Garcia is prolly just a straight bard.

Feel free to ignore. I'm just psyched, for some reason I can't put my finger on. ;)
You shameless plugger, you :) I love the Deformity Feats and the Summon Undead spells.

I have to say meh. The archivist doesn't feel right to me- a cleric who doesn't get his spells from a divine source? Why not just use an ur-priest? As for knowledge seekers- there are ways of either modifying clerics (domains and spells) or using wizards (who already are knowledge seekers).

As for the rest of it, I own CoC d20, Darkness and Dread, Evil, and The Book of Unremitting Horror (I sold BoVD recently). Add in GURPS Horror 2nd and 3rd ed, Sorcerer, The Collectors and vs Monsters and I have a stack of books on scaring players. Why do I need another one?

Not that I am putting the book down, Ari. I just don't need another one.

I LOVE the Archivist!

But Mouse, regarding Cas, the demigod of spite... Is he a typoed Kas, as in "Sword of..."? As in "Hey, Vecna, let me see your hand"?

Nope. The similarity in names is unfortunate, but purely coincidental. The demigod's name is, indeed, "Cas."

For very solid reasons, that maybe I'll go into at a later date, it couldn't be anything else. ;)

Hate to derail the thread, but I was considering getting the Book of Unremitting H orror. How is it? I haven't seen any reviews for it.

Demiurge out.

And that's certainly your call to make. Given what you already have, it makes sense.

I'd encourage you to at least take a look at it in the store, of course. You may find that some of the tips for working horror into an otherwise "standard" D&D campaign are useful, or you may like some of the new monsters, spells, etc.

But if not, hey. There's no obligation, and there are no free steak knives for ordering early if you're not sure. ;)

Damn WotC. I was saving my scheckles for Magic of Eberron...

I'm a sucker for spook stuff, and 3e Ravenloft didn't go down right for me, so THIS might do the trick.

Testing out and Archivist in two weeks, let you know how that works out...
