To a new PLAYER not a new DM, eh?
- Try to say "yes" to opportunities.
- They're laughing with you, not at you. Seriously, they're excited for you to have fun and excited at the opportunity to introduce someone new to their hobby.
- However tempting it might be to stay quiet, speak up once each time you encounter a new person, place, or event.
- It's completely acceptable to think about how comfortable and fashionable your character is. MW armor IS like a new suit; a magical Handy Haversack IS like the best purse ever. DMs will recognize that it's a sign that you're getting into the spirit of their world.
- Try to understand the motivations of your fellow PLAYERS as much as your fellow characters.
- It's okay to say, "I don't understand." Players do it all the time.
