Work on my Gish

d12

First Post
Any help with spell selection, item selection, feats, etc would be appreciated. We're unlikely to get to very high level play, so my priority here was to get to spellcasting in armor quickly and to try to lose as little BAB and caster levels as possible.

Nice build, but I lose 2 BAB and 2 CL in the early levels that way. I think I only lose one of each by 11th level with mine. Of course, I lose some daily spells with Battle Sorcerer, but one can't have everything.

There's a chance we'll go gestalt, in which case, I will probably do paladin of freedom and sorcerer.

Offhand:

1. Otherwordly grants proficiency in all martial weapons, including the Greatsword. There is no need to spend a seperate feat on greatsword proficiency. Even if it didn't the Greatsword is not worth a feat.
2. Weapon Focus is a waste of time.
3. Persist Spell without a means of reducing the adjustment. Stupid move.
4. Spell list includes such gems as Antimagic Field, which makes a spellcaster USELESS and Disjunction, which destroys your loot. No Shapechange, which is godly for a Gish. Stupid, stupid.

This is not a build made by an optimizer. This is a build made by someone who knows optimizers exist, and is trying to be an optimizer, but only ends imitating them like a monkey imitates the people who visit it at the zoo.

no seperate feat is spend, weapon proficiency and focus are listed because they are granted by the stalwart sorcerer acf

2. Weapon Focus is a waste of time.
I agree

3. Persist Spell without a means of reducing the adjustment. Stupid move.
maybe. this could be achieved with the easy metamagic feat (replace arcane stirke) from dragon magazine, although I don't think it is that important because the duration of the extended spells is satisfying (my opinion)

if you had read the whole article you'd see that these spells are supposed to work with duelward in order to counter other casters that use them against him.

I made this build, and yes I am trying to be an optimizer. According to you I don't handle it very well!! Well, I'll try harder since your opinion matters because I admire your knowledge on the subject (although it could be expressed with a little bit more politeness).

It's entirely possible I am incorrect. We could easily settle this dispute on BG, as there is an army of optimizers there who probably know gishes better than I.

Shall we?

I am not saying that I am correct. I'd like to see some other opinions or given some pointers, so ok!!
