[World Cup] BRAZIL !! Heart Attacks !! England Next !

england vs. brazil....

well brazil's defense is rather lax these days. hardly the juggernaut of 1994 when they captured the cup.

but.

oh, that brazilian attack. ronaldo, rivaldo, and the boys from brazil are putting a lot of goals on the board. they are keeping a steady assault on their opponent's end of the field to help alleviate the fact that their backfield and goalkeeper are not the best.

england is a great club though. they play a different style of football then brazil. not the quick dashing and slashing of the south americans. their defense is very tight.

i am predicting a great game. if i were going to call it i would say, brazil 3-england 2.

that is my prediction.

Brazil Defense Lax ? Its more like Laxative...

Newspapers here called it goofy... pathetic... but today it was better a little... hope those English arrive drunk for the game. :)

Even though their defense is poorly organised they still have some of the best defenders in the world on their team, Roberto Carlos, Cafu and Lucio. And England was not good vs Denmark, they were only incredibly lucky. The two first goals were created based on pure luck. And the only reason they won was that Denmark weren't good enough to beat them. Englands "world class" defense will get a hard time vs the triple Rs, maybe the best offense Brazil have had since the legendary 1982 team.

Good Offense for sure... 4 Rs in fact

Ronaldo / Ronaldinho Gaucho / Rivaldo / Roberto Carlos

Only Lucio is a defender in your list thou and has done some silly things in the defense....

(BTW Korea just won Italy with a Sudden Death Header... or Golden Goal if you prefer.... )

Go south Korea! Go Guus Hiddink! Even thouigh the Dutch team isn't in, at least we have one Dutchman still dealing out some nice surprises!

BTW, just two weeks before the World cup, the Netherlands beat the US with 2-0. And now look what the US is doing...

:) Yes but they all play defense when the opponent attacks, and
Lucio may not have impressed anyone in the WC yet, but he ruled the Bayer Leverkusen defense like a king on their impressive journey to the champions league final, so he still may right his so-called wrongs

Jeezez, Korea won! And I turned the telly off 10 min before injury time.....:(

It wasn't always impressive. They were unconvincing in both games against Arsenal, and we should have put them out (failing to score >1 goal when superior in Germany led to a sucker punch equaliser at the end - a painfully familiar failing in recent European campaigns). They were stomped in London.

Maybe the 2nd goal was pure luck.

The 1st was not. It was a perfect curving corner kick that drew the defenders and goalie out of position. The finish was sloppy but the setup was textbook perfect. The only mistake was the forward incorrectly assume the goalie would be in position so he placed the ball hard in front of the goal expecting the goalie to move to cover the near post. That ball was destined to bounce around dangerously; that was certainly on purpose.
