World History Class Help

Hello all,

As many of you know I teach High School World History (really Western Civ, but that's another topic) - I need your help.

I have put together some awesome power points on Greek and Roman civilizations with movie clips, pictures, etc.

I would like to do the same thing for Early and High Middle Ages. What I really would appreciate is some suggestions of films that I could check out with good footage of medieval warfare. I can live with a few Hollywood historical liberties, but not too many.

Are there any excellent documentaries I should check out? The ones I have are pretty dull - and this should not be a dull topic!

I'm pretty well set for pictures - but if you know of an amazing website on the crusades, that would be helpful.

I'm also set for books - pretty well buried actually.

Thanks for your help!

Keith

There are at least a couple of recent movies about Joan of Arc. What year did this one come out?

It was 1999, a French production but in English. Lead actress was Milla Jovovich who also starred in The Fifth Element.

I found it: it was called The Messenger: The story of Joan of Arc in its US release apparently. Courtesy of www.imdb.com

Thank you - most helpful!

I now have a pretty good list of films to check out.

My students really enjoy a movie clip or two thrown into my lecture presentations - as do I.

Thanks again.

-mods feel free to move this thread to entertainment or wherever you feel it should go. I apologize for the off-topic thread, but it really helped me out.
