World Largest Dungeon Cheap

I got my copy in the mail yesterday. And to quote my first girlfriend, "It's so BIG!" :D

I can't wait to start my vacation next week so I can spend some time exploring this baby.

Man, I am usually not cheap when it comes to RPGs. In fact, I spend way too much on stuff I am unlikely to ever use. But there is like a 99% chance I will never be able to use this thing. I like to play too much, and end up DMing too little. And I easily have enough adventures to last me for years. So I'm not buying it, even for $40.

Or so I said to myself before I remembered the $20 gift card that has been tucked away in my wallet since Christmas. So I couldn't pass up $24 (total with shipping). Sold!

I also can't believe this deal has lasted this long.

I imagione sales have really fallen off. It seems like the type of product the people who want it go out and get it but it isn't the type to have sustaining sales...notr that many books do these days.

So big, it's utility is questionable IMO.

I got my copy over the weekend. To the uninitiated, I issue this warning: the WLD is not structured in any way that actually makes it convenient to use. At the very least, a master index of where monsters are located would have been a great help. But nope, no crib notes, no indices. You want to find the tarrasque or nightwalker, you better get ready to start digging through 800+ pages. I figured something like this would actually appear as a web enhancement eventually, but web enhancements are something AEG hasn't bothered with.

I think that someone else (not AEG) *has* made such an index.

IIRC, a link is in the WLD spoiler thread within the last 3-4 pages.

No other adventures have one, so it seems unreasonible to expect opne here.

Just to bring to your attention, all of those who have not been keeping up with the various WLD threads should try out www.rpgmp3.com they have a lot of the player maps, dm maps and other various goodies that have been produced for this monster (as well as their "audio review", i.e. you can listen to their group play through this monster. Quite good so far).

Also, there has been an index made for the WLD: http://www.geocities.com/ducktreader/WLD.html

I am so tempted to get this for a friend just because it is such a deal...

And by "a friend" you mean "my game store." :D

Mine has shipped, I hope to see it tomorrow. If nothing else, it'll provide enough maps to keep me busy for the next century. :)
