World of Warcraft killed our gaming group!

Too bad KL is so far away. I think I draw the line at 40 km one way to play.

Well, we have a three-day-convention coming up in november, and our local gaming club has members (Or at least forum users ;) ) from "der falschen seite Kusels" ;)

Look us up: www.karota-ev.de - I'm known there as "Menschfeind"

WoW & EQII were intermittent during the winter months, but did not have the story or D&D feel to pull away from the game. Having to wait for 1500 gnolls to spawn to kill them to get a goofy title is not all that fun.

D&D Online, however, is real crack. We have taken a break for the game I run for our first child, and the story, dungeons, everything is superb and getting better all the time. DDO may be the first real threat of taking planned goof-off time away from planning pen & paper sessions.

Gah. I cant eve concieve of this. While WoW a such are fun, wanting to play them over actual D&D is... wierd.

I can't explain it otherwise: It started about the time they started playing, they aren't very enthusiastic about D&D, but very enthusiastic about WoW.

Can't say the same thing, really. All the EQ/WoW players I game with (me included, even though I have cancelled my WoW account a few months ago already, because the game was too boring after a while) prefer roleplaying over MMORPGs.

Maybe building up a new group is an option for you?

How far from here is Meerbusch, anyway :D

I do have another group - a great one, at that. Very enthusiastic, they even put up with me as a DM ;). I just have to get one of them to run a game, too, as I prefer being a player.

On the upside, we can now use sundays for our games as well.

Everyone in my group plays WoW, and a couple of us are even into the high end raid stuff. It's safe to say that we all prefer D&D over WoW though. WoW is really fun, but we have been doing D&D for years, and you just can't beat the options and creativity it allows.

It's kinda funny, because even though we all play WoW, whenever I have to cancel a session because of illness or vacation or w/e, people are always really sad. The usual line is "No D&D this week? Man that sucks. Well, I guess I'll go play WoW or something."

P.S. - OOC off topic talk makes up a large percentage of the session, even if it's not WoW talk.

I know one local guy who has stopped doing other things to play WoW. Other than work, he doesn't really do much besides play WoW. He used to play minis, he used to take showers . . . .

But, he was never part of my D&D grorup, so I'm lucky that way. My D&D group hasn't been infected.

A few years ago, we had a group of 5 including the DM. Two of the players were into EQ and would constantly talk about recent raids, ways to power up, and all that. The games usually got started late; and occasionally, got interupted.

Finally, I made a sign and hung it on the wall during game days.

NO TALKING EVERQUEST ON D&D GAME DAYS...or something like that,

To my surprise, it worked.

The guy running our current BUffy game has fallen unfer the spell of Wow, but it hasn't affected our game. He's too much of a Buffy fiend to drop it for WoW.
