Worldbuilding questions, Changing the modern world

I have a world-building question on how much can I change modern earth until it's still called Earth? I wanting to change how the countries and the continent themselves are shaped and/or formed but still keep some of the modern earth names as well. What genre and trope would this be under?

Not sure I follow but I would think post modern or post Cenozoic era

That depends on how you go about it, and what you ant to do with it.

If you just want the map to be a bit different, but otherwise things are going to proceed normally, then it is perhaps an alternate Earth.

If you are specifically exploring the results of some change in history (a change that makes the maps different), it may be an alternate history.

Yeah was kind of hard to see which was which in terms of that. Would Alternate history stories still be in Modern Era or do they have to set in past still?

Either way, or in the future even. A few years ago I read a story set in about 2020 in which the Nazis had won WWII.

Okay, now I have to figure out (if want to stay on Earth) how much I want to change, where and how it was changed. The areas I want change are the the major and popular countries. The how they are change will be through some mystical events and some natural progression in which the races i will have in the setting were the influence.
