Worldhopping to Athas, Jakandor, Rokugan and others

One thing I noted about Jakandor was the power disparity between the top-level Knorr and the top-level Charonti. As I recall, there wasn't a single Knorr in the main book with a double-digit level, whereas the Charonti book had many high-level Charonti. On the other hand, it was also a bit ironic that the Charonti were supposed to be very powerful magically, but that their spell selection was *far* more limited than that of the Knorr.

Jakandor

Very odd. Has anyone actually run any adventures in Jakandor? There seem to be quite a few people like me who bought the books and then put them on the shelf where they've been gathering dust. It's an interesting setting though.

Jakandor adventure idea

Though I've never run Jakandor, I just had an idea for an adventure you could run there.

During their explorations of the ruins, the Charonti uncover some sort of ancient magical plague - perhaps an intentional bioweapon, perhaps something that time has warped from its original purpose. This plague begins spreading, both throughout the Charonti and Knorr. It causes madness, mutation, and eventually a slow, painful death. The Charonti panic, because their vaunted necromancy doesn't help against the effects, and the disease is making their zombies break control and go on rampages. The Knoor go ballistic and begin attacking the Charonti, because they think it's an intentional attack. Enter the PCs. Roll Fort saves for them the first time they're exposed to the disease, and voila, they're embroiled in some nasty politics, followed by whatever you want to do to find the cure. I'd recommend either a nasty dungeon-crawl through Charonti ruins, or, if you want to get political, have the solution require the blending of Knorr shamanistic magic and Charonti necromancy.

Thoughts?

Thanks for this - I'm probably going to steal it! I intended to have some kind of dungeon crawl through some ancient Charonti ruins and have the PCs run into groups of both Charonti and Knorr, but this gives me the plot I was looking for.

As the PCs are high enough level to cast heal etc, it will need to be some kind of weird magical virus that cannot be cured by conventional means.
I really like the idea that the cure has to come from a combination of Knorr and Charonti magic.

Cheers

You know, I've been wanting to do a multi-campaign saga for some time now... We used to all the time in 2e (using Spelljammer as the go-between)... but now... It'd be interesting to see how things pan out.

Given that the Charonti culture was originally nearly destroyed by a magic plague a thousand years ago or so (and they're *still* recovering from that, trying to reclaim the lost knowledge), the disease idea is great. The Charonti book had (2e) rules for the less virulent version of the plague that survived to the present day.
