World's Largest Dungeon, 800-1000 pages, US$99.95, 1 million words, 100 maps

I pretty much lost interest when I read "World's Largest Dungeon". Why couldn't it be the "World's Largest Adventure"?

It's a matter of taste of course, but I'm so sick of dungeon crawls. What I'd really like to see is a book about the same size for an entire campaign (levels 1-20). There is a lot more to do in D&D than crawl around in a dungeon.

Still, I'd like to see it just for kicks.
As usual, I'm right behind you in this sentiment, Ashrem.

Edit: Errr, those sentiments. Plural. ;)

One of the sample rooms had a bunch of spiders, scorpions, and beetles hanging out, not eating each other, waiting to attack the party

No, it is not that they are not eating each other, we just are not told what they are doing in the room.

hi

jim pinto here.
creator/designer/editor of the World's Largest Dungeon.

i'm not sure where this site got its facts (i'm working on it),
but here's the skinny.

nearly 1 million words, 700 to 800 pages, and 16 full color
17 by 22 inch poster maps

everything else is correct

sorry for the confusion.

btw.

we already have a thread for this topic.

It might be good, my big problem is plunking down 100 bucks at once. I know you get more for you money but it is still a big chunk of money to drop at once. I am on a wait and see at the moment.

Any company that would take the bold step to do something like this has my support (both moral and financial).

Will it be what every gamer wants? Of course not. Nothing is.

But I love the concept.

It's what Undermountain could (and should) be.

Yeah, but how could you expect players to stick to an entire 20 levels of pre-written plot? There'd have to be a lot of railroading going on.

With 700 pages and a little talent, it could be done.
In fact, as soon as I find a publisher, I'll prove it can be done with half that page count. ;)

I searched amazon immediately this morning and couldn't find it.

It's still a bit off. They usually only have preorders from WOTC that far in advance. Heck, there's probably not even an ISBN number yet. I'm still waiting for NG's MOTHER OF ALL ENCOUNTER TABLES to show up on Amazon... and that's being released VERY soon..

Too bad you don't like TLG or want a copy of Barakus. If you did, and emailed Steve, he would give you a deal equal to or better than Amazon, after their shipping is added. But it would require buying two or more of their books, including Necromancer stuff they have and are putting out, such as Vindication. Or their special Kubla Con module, etc...
