Because they can. Hell, I'd do it just for myself if I could; The Grand Democratic Republic of Ambrus. I'd have coins with a different denomination for each room of my apartment and they'd be called 'Drakes'. It'd be fun trying to pay the pizza delivery guy with them. I'd have a whiteboard next to the door with the daily drake/US dollar/Euro exchange rate.

In any case, I think they'll likely get the Euro some day (apparently 2008 at the earliest).
