WorldWide GaryCon This Weekend!

Our regular game night is Saturday; this Saturday happens to be my 35th birthday so I had originally opted not to run the game in favor of celebrating and relaxing in some more unique manner. But on Tuesday, when I saw the news, I immediately sent an email to all my players announcing that the game was back on- and why.

We'll be gaming on Saturday, and dedicating the night to the man who helped make it all possible.

I will be honoring Gary's memory by attending Fear the Con this weekend. I've already signed up for a couple of Savage Worlds games. It may not be traditional Gygaxian-style gaming, but I think the important thing is to just game. :)

On less than a week's notice, I was not able to put something together for the popular times of Friday or Saturday. However, Sunday was open, so that's when we are having our Gygax Memorial Dungeon Crawl.

Are any of his older works available online, either free or at a reasonable price? I would totally run a one-shot game with an older ruleset and one of his modules if I could get my hands on it.

Absolutely! Aside from the knock-offs of older (A)D&D editions (of which I listed a few here ), RPGNow also has many of the old rules manuals and modules for only $4-5.

Also, Wizards maintains a couple of Gary's modules for free (though I suggest Keep on The Borderlands (my favorite module of all time) or Against The Giants for solid-gold Gygax, both of which are worth the few bucks they'd cost you on RPGNow.

Bill Corrie of HinterWelt also is offering a free OGL module Turrus Lemurum, just for this special GaryCon weekend. :)
