Worst 3.5 publishers?

at least from reading message boards, newsgroups, and magazines, i would have to say WotC has been the most hammered by the conversion to 3.11ed for Workgroups.

people who play(ed) the 2000ed either like it or hate it. and they are very vocal about the changes. so much so that you can't help but find a faction of rabid fanboys for each anywhere on a D&D site.

So is this how you get around insulting those who play this edition now? Just spell the first 2 letters of 'turd'? Oh gosh you are oh-so-clever to have thought that one up

case in point :p

Diaglo, didn't we go over the whole Wurst edition/Turd edition thing and agree not to use those terms? Please, a lot of people (including me) find those really insulting; they really aren't welcome here.

Thanks!

WOTC.

Once again, I am compelled to reiterate the ludicrous need for a .5 edition, especially one as badly messed up as 3.5. Ugh. . .

HiLiphNY, I played in and DM so many broken rounds in 3.0 at cons. Haste and Harm were so bad! Those spells nearly ruined many a gaming session. Harm followed by a inflict critical wounds equals instant death with no save. :( I feel that the spell changes and class changes in 3.5 were necessary.

Now, returning back to the original subject. I have been limiting my purchases to the Scarred Lands and Ravenloft material from Sword & Sorcery. Both lines seemed to have adapted well to 3.5. The collectible figures from WOTC have been soaking up the rest of my money.

For me, it's Mongoose. They put out books that could've easily been 3.0 with no issues but went for the 3.5 buck right when the system was changing and messed up numerous products.

A few others have little flubs here and there. I still see some references to wrong skills, casting times, incorrect monster advancement, but none to the point that whole books have been effected like Mongoose.

I hope that Conan doesn't suffer from this as Slaine, a book similiar in nature, a licensed book, was a great buy and Mongoose does produce some quality books but their hit or miss nature, added to the really bad editing and poor understanding of 3.5 mechanics, has keept me away from quite a few of their books.

I recently got Mongoose's slayer's guide to demons and I am disapointed in it. It is only partially converted to 3.5 with inconsistently done mechanics, and while it throws in a ton of new demons, not one is illustrated.

Don't be surprised arnwyn, our culture is one of being insulted. That's where the sympathy is. That's where the victimhood is. And most importantly for groups like the NAACP, NAMBLA, and the Rainbow Coalition, that's where the MONEYis.
