Worst character?

Here's another question for the masses?

What is the worst PC that you've ever had the horror of gaming with?

By that I mean the character, not the individual player.

I had someone in my run who INSISTED on playing female characters. Once in a blue moon is fine, but continuously playing against your gender is a personal issue.

The worst one he ever played was a swanmay. He insisted on speaking in a falsetto and hitting on the male characters.

It made me twitch....in a bad way.

Hmmmm....I hope he's not reading this.

The last two characters who died in the OA campaign I was in. Mainly because a) I didn't get to roll for them. b) It's OA. c) I was hoping to run for a change...

A bard... or not...

I had the horror of gaming with a guy who decided to play a bard for our first 3e game. I was actually looking forward to this, as it was the first bard ever in a group I'd ever played with, and I know this guy is really good at role-playing charismatic rogues. I felt it a perfect fit.

The guy never once touched anything bardish about himself. No musical instruments, no epic story-telling, no singing, nothing... the whole character wasn't even a PC... should have been an NPC. He only made the whole campaign fall apart for being such an anti-adventurer. He originally described his character as a reluctant hero, much like Han Solo... it was more like a deceptive bastard who was reluctant to get out of bed... much less weild a sword, tell a tale, adventure, get involved in any part of the story he didn't make up...

Most destructive character ever...

(Warrior was tied to this guy via history, so he had to go along with his desicions... Ranger was insane for an elf (not RPed well at all), and ran off headlong into death... rogue was too busy trying to get elected major to be concerned with the game, and the Monk (my character) was the only one involved with the story... eventually had to leave the group because he was on a mission, and the party... no matter how the DM tried, would not "adventure". Campaign took on a whole new direction... introduced a psion to join this "new" direction, and the warrior put an axe through his chest when they all first meet.... couldn't find one damn good RP reason to stick around after that... what a mess.)

The worst i had the horror of DMing was this girl who's woodsman (Wheel of Time) hated people, and refused to interact with them. She wouldnt even go get help when the entire party was slaughtered in combat, she left them for dead. Everytime the PC's went anywhere she got into fights with them (OoC) because she kept saying that her PC had no reason to go with them.

Ultimately it was decided that she wouldn't be invited back.

I recently played at an RPGA event (Living Greyhawk). In the group was a Rogue character. Without telling anyone in advance, her character "freaked out" when someone cast a spell near her. This was at the beginning of combat and the mage was simply casting a Shield spell. The Rogue's player said, "My character freaks out and doesn't do anything for a minute." A minute--that's 10 rounds. One of the other characters was played by her boyfriend of the hour. He said that his character, "stays back to protect" the freaked-out Rogue. Yeah, that 4th level Rogue really needed the protection of a 1st level Rogue.

After the round was over, one of the other players said to me, "They are not playing with us again!" LOL--no kidding! It'd be more fun to play with Jack Chick and Lorraine Williams!

the worst character that has ever existed in a party i have been involved in was a chaotic neutral pyromaniac mage. need i say more? i do? he was min maxed so badly with the spells and magic book that he wore full plate while casting. more? ok, the player gave him this strange scottish/mexican stereotype hybrid accent and a really high pitched voice and invented his own curse words all the time which he would screech throughout combat every session. the worst part about the character is that he was mine, and i was that annoying bastard. it was a long time ago but i still think back and laugh, others in my group cringe. my character died 3 times, to the sound of clapping and cheering each time.

It's an old 2nd creature. Basically like a were-swan but they didn't infect people...At least not that I knew of. Scott has a better memory. Oh Scott!

Well, the worst character is kind of a symptom of a bad player (aren't they all?).

This guy was (and still is) a chronic munchkin and min/maxer. At the beginning of our 3E campaign, he didn't even bother to name his PC! (He did, however, make sure all his bonuses were correct, and that he had every weapon his PC could carry...and armor)

I briefly played in an on-line game with a group of 12 or so people (too large if you ask me). One of the players, a ranger, decided that he didn't want join in on any hunting parties (which we did while in the woods to conserve rations) or take his turns on watch.

He didn't feel like "taking care of everyone else", or words to that effect. Before you ask, no, he wasn't roleplaying. When some other players objected to his attitude, he quit.

Another crappy character was in the same game. Unfortunately, it was my halfling monk. He had a pretty cool background and his stats looked good on paper, but in actual gameplay, he sucked. I made the mistake of choosing mobility instead of weapon finese. The result was that he was nearly impossible to hit (good AC, dodge, mobility, and small size), but never landed a punch in combat.

The only thing he was good for was "mage bodyguard". And since I couldn't hit anything, I'd just block anyone who got near the spellcasters and kept them busy until someone else showed up and helped me. I've never been so bored in a game in all my life! :(

Thankfully, just as I was getting ready to quit, myself, the DM pulled the plug stating that he couldn't keep up (my guess it that the group was just too big to handle properly).

But I learned my leason from that: If you insist on playing a monk in a point buy game take weapon finese as soon as possible.
