Worst Class/ PrC

FORSAKER

Ye gods what a stupid class. The only way i could even think about playing one of these atrocities is in a high tech game (a la dragonstar) then maybe, MAYBE this class could be considered an opition. If i hear one more person clam that forsakers can use psionics im going to sic my army of angry gremlins on them.

Funny, I think Forsaker is one of the best prestige classes, as long as they carry a lot of that herbal healing item from Tome & Blood, and have access to adamantine and mithril weapons and armor. Other than the psionics claims, is there some other reason why you think they are stupid?

Go on. How many people have ever seen a ranger/paladin?

[tongue in cheek]
Well, I did see this movie last winter about some gnomes or something who had a magic ring, which had this character named "Earagorn" or "Airgorn" or something... he was clearly a Ranger (they said as much), but he also repelled some really powerful undead, healed wounds, had the blood of kings, and a really noble bearing... yeah, I'd say that he sounded to me like a Paladin/Ranger.
[/tongue in cheek]

Well, in all seriousness, I do believe that Aragorn is best interpreted as a Paladin/Ranger, but that aside, I have seen TWO multiclassed Paladin/Rangers, one a Fighter/Paladin/Ranger and the other a Paladin/Ranger/Cleric.

Both Paladin and Ranger are GREAT for frontloading, especially if you're using one of those munchkiny alternate rangers (especially the great one from Necropolis- W00T!)

Worst PrC?

Geomancer comes to mind...it just seems such a hodgepodge of abilities without real purpose. That and the whole mix around all your spellcasting thing just begs for powergaming.

I like most of the classes, but Rangers have issues and fighters should really get more skill points.

We're testing out the Monte Ranger right now and it seems good so far without being too good. I guess time will tell.

Well for one thing i am a habitual spellcaster/psionisist and so the very idea of a class that destroys magic and such is pretty much the antithesis of my style of play. Also its just something about someone who goes around destroying magic and such that makes me think of witch hunts and the spanish inquistion (nobody expects the spanish inquisition! :D ).

Aside from my personal opinions of the class i do not feel it is a very good class. Yes that many ability mods are fun but no magical healing? no teleportation? no ressurection? no good weapons? eternal hatred of all spellcasters/psionists/people who can turn you into a pile of dust with a thought? Also where is this guy supposed to get all of the magic items he is supposed to destroy?

I think that the forsaker PrC could be taken for flavor reasons but I would never in a million years choose this class.

Also, as i said before, if you hang around on certin boards long enough (*chough* Wizards *cough*) you get reallly sick of hearing things like "Dude i can totally max out my forsaker by having him use psionics" or "Well my forsaker will just find a gnomish artificer and have him make some kewl phat items" Grrrrrrrrrr.....

Anyway sorry my initial post didnt elaborate on the reasons for my distaste for this particular class. Hope this clears things up a bit.

There was a guy at Arch-Con about 15 or so years ago who wanted to play his Ninja-Paladin . Seriously.

Yes I have seen Ranger / Paladins. Back in the Monty-Haul dayz.

Even seen me a Drow Paladin, back before demi-humans could even be Paladins.

The Forsaker's ok except for the magic item destruction. I love the idea, but I can do much better by using the Hero Points instead of magic items rules from 4 Color to Fantasy.

I tend to greatly dislike most PrC's. If you can do it with a core class or multiclass with the proper skill and feat selection, don't make a Prestige Class. All the archer prestige classes and the Cavalier come to mind.

However, the one that stands out above all others is the Ghostwalker. Anti-heroes are so ridiculously cliche'd, and as nothing more than a roleplaying concept they do not deserve their own class. The class's abilities have no unified concept or reason for existing together.

I also hate most wizard and sorc prestige classes. Give up nothing for something. Way to go, guys. I'm much more likely to like anything with 1/2 spellcaster progression, but the Mystic and the Eldritch Master stand out here head and shoulders above the other magic-using prestige classes.

Unfortunately I believe this is a design flaw that springs from the base classes rather than the PrC's themselves. I am of the opinion that spellcasters should have more to give (other than their spellcasting advancement which can be downright crippling not to mention the main reason for playing a spellcaster) if they decide to pursue a PrC, the sorcerer is especially guilty of the design flaw. In future editions, if they are going to follow the 3e format with multiclassing and PrC's, they should fix this.

living blade or any other prestige class that tries to balance overpowering abilities by limiting weapon selection. every living blade who has a brain will carry more then one of their favored weapon, knowing that not having one would be idiotic. such a limitation is not really a limitation at all.

weapon master. a bunch of abilities that really have no specific weapon in mind, i preffered the lasher and master of chains style weaponmastery guys.

Worst Class: Commoner

Worst PRC: Hospitaler (One of the most error ridden PRC's I've ever seen, giving too much power in return for a role-playing penalty - the "vow of poverty", that can be easily worked around by powergamers.)

Oh, I dunno...I don't see the ghostwalker as an antihero necessarily. I think mystery and vengance are pretty good character hooks.

What concerns me is the ability to lay the smack down on anyone who beat you up and leaves you for dead. In my gaming experience, anyone who is "left for dead" is usually eaten by vile beasties soon thereafter.

I was considering a Forgotten Realms monk/ghostwalker dedicated to Hoar, god of revenge. Tough to multiclass a monk, though, since that increased unarmed attack damage is so important...
