[WoT] Call for Players, Message Board Game

Drothgery,

In an earlier post, you said you may allow shields to stack with class defense bonuses. Nobles also start with Shield proficiency. If you do allow shields to stack with class bonuses then I have a slight change to make to my character, Lord Tomas Menorian.

His studded leather has the same armor bonus (+3) as his class bonus (+3). I'd like to cash in his studded leather and just have Tomas start play with an extra 25 mk in his pocket.

Studded leather doesn't really fit the image I have of a Noble. It doesn't change his AC (assuming shields stack). And it would have him starting with 45 mk to use as spending cash...in the noble fashion. It would help him afford the best rooms and such.

Go ahead.

When you say that Shalimar and I knew Lila, how well does that imply we know one another? I'd like to know, so I can start chit-chatting about age and Ajah choices, etc.

She's about 4 years older than you, and was an Accepted when you were Novices. As an Accepted, she was friendlier with the Novices than most, and every once in a while helped some of the older Novices -- which included you two -- to sneak out into the city. As a native of the city, she knew where to go to find something interesting and avoid getting in too much trouble if you were caught. Even though she didn't get quite as lost in her books as some of the Brown sisters, everyone assumed she was going to choose Brown Ajah, and everyone was right.

Unusual things about her include...
1) She was raised Aes Sedai very quickly, nearly reaching the Shawl in less time than Moiraine and Siuan did.
2) She's a native of Tar Valon, which is true of surprisingly few Aes Sedai.
3) There might be some Browns that know more of the Age of Legends than she does, but certainly none of the Accepted do.
4) As far as you know, she pretty much disappeared into the Tower Library after being raised to the shawl a little over a year ago.

Something else to think about is how well I know Sirsei and Shalimar. Do I know only their names, ranks, and serial numbers? Or were they best friends with Yuri's sister, Tasha? I guess Sirsei and Shalimar could decide that themselves too. I just don't want to assume too much when the three of us meet up.

By the way, my real-life name is Jon. Since we're all going to be playing together, I just thought I'd introduce myself. :)

Not a bad idea. Hi Jon, I'm Mike. :)

Should we start a new Rogue's Gallary thread with only our stats? Would be less cluttered.

Do any of the other characters know each other? According to my background, Ash is either on the road to Caemlyn or has been their a few days. Either works well for me.

Hi Mike! Personally, I just have a paper character sheet with Yuri's stats and stuff on it, so I think one copy of Yuri's stats online is enough for me.

Maybe a new Rogues' Gallery with just the players' stats would be good though. That'd cut down on the scrolling.

Hmm. Ash is presumably coming from Ebou Dar, Yuri from the Borderlands, Tomas from Tear, and Jain from Cairhein. I'm not sure how to pair you up yet.

You could use the most common cliche ever and have us stay at the same inn! :D

Or if Jain or Ashrem is a more larcenous wanderer, they could try to get their greedy hands on my purse (the Light save them if I roll well on my Spot, though...), or Tomas', which probably would yield a greater reward for less risk.

Edit: I just checked skills, and they're as good at pickpocketing as I am!

And didn't someone else say they wanted to become a Hunter for the Horn? Maybe there's a hangout for Hunters in Caemlyn, some tavern or inn where Hunters and potential Hunters get together to trade war stories. If you decide there is such a place, I'd imagine Yuri would be interested in going there to see if the Great Hunt was for him.

I'm the Hunter want-to-be. Ash would fallow any word or rumor related to that subject.

Ashrem isn't likely to try to pick someone's pocket. He has enough coin to get him by, and will likely dice if he needs more. Dark One's Own Luck should pay off then. :)

He isn't really the theiving kind, but would do it if he had to.

Could just meet on the road.

Maybe one of the characters has set up camp near the road and the others stumble upon him following the smell of rabbit. :)
