Wot Weave Resistance

First Post
This may be an old topic, but I just got the Wheel of Time RPG book recently.

Weave resistance is mentioned in several of the weaves (spells) in the One Power chapter. However, nowhere that I can see is the use of weave resistance explained. Granted, I haven't thoroughly read the WHOLE book yet, but I can't find it in any of the logical places.

I'm guessing it's like SR in D&D. Any input from more experience Wheel of Timers?

Just one of the many editing errors found in the book ;). Weave Resistance does nothing. Originally it was supposed to be for... something (I want to say just in reserve for future use, but I can't recall) but that was cut and they just forgot to cut all the references to it from the rulebook.

Thank you. I have noticed other editing problems as well, but overall I'm thrilled with the game. I like the subtle changes in mechanics and, of course, the world. It's kind of like a more "mature" D&D, in my opinion.

It bugs me that there is only one official supplement that's ever been released or advertised... and it's only so-so as far as playability... and there hasn't been an update to the WoT site at WotC in over a month.

Is WoT RPG dead in the water?

Well, the topic has only been active for an hour or so. My WoT spider sense must be on the fritz.

cthuluftaghn and his wife are helping with the art on the new netbook.

Tomanta basically answered the question - they were going to use it (like Mat's Medallion or perhaps to represent cutting weaves) but decided to go another route. The snail tracks remain in the book.

There is a good FAQ at Tomanta's site and one at Where the Shadow Waits. One of the nicest looking WoT RPG sites out there and the creation of our mutual friend Vish.

On the Dead in the water aspect: Yep, they only intended to do two books. Part of a new WotC marketing strategy. It lets them tap deep, getting the majority of the money to be had from a licensed product while not getting caught up in long term support and contracts. While it aint the most pleasant thing for fans, it does get us a game and I think WotC will probably continue with that model if they decide to do more licensed RPG (from a purely moronic "yep, makes sense to me" kinda viewpoint). Not nice, but is cost effective.

I just wish WotC would have done with WoT what they did with OA/Rokugan. I can't believe NO ONE wanted the rights to produce adventures and sourcebooks to WoT...

Well, I would. But, don't have the time or resources :-(

Question... starting up an online WoT campaign with players that are all new to WoT. So far, 2 out of my 3 players have opted to use the pre-made hero templates in the RPG book.

One picked a Maiden of the Spear, the other a Player of the Great Game. So... what that gives me is an Aiel and a Cairhienin. Fire and ice in the PC party already. That's like the dreaded rogue/paladin combo.

Suggestions? Should I allow it? My thinking is that the Aiel is somehow honor-bound to the Noble... he spared her life, or something like that. I have a rough history prepared, but haven't gotten to fleshing it out yet.

Hmmm... I can't think of any solution better than ji'e'toh. I think that's the way to go, if you allow it. I probably would allow it, personally, as it would be interesting. :) BTW, I'm assuming that this is after the Aiel war.

I think the weave resistance was there from completeness, just incase they did add any such monsters.

anyway look at it this way, it is easier to transfer the spellcasting system over with it that way
