I'm wondering if Elemental Evil is going to be based in Forgotten Realms; I'm not familiar with the older adventures that deal with similar themes, as I tend to stay away from Elemental stuff (no real reason why; just never came up).
I'd be willing to bet that, after Elemental Evil, we'll get another FR-based adventure path (wasn't there some rumor of something to do with Giants?). After that, its a toss up between Eberron and Dark Sun--I'd bet Dark Sun, as that seems more popular than Eberron (at least, in my opinion). Greyhawk I expect after Eberron and Dark Sun. Greyhawk has been out of print for a while, so don't expect support for it for a while.
What setting am I forgetting, besides Spelljammer?
I am pretty sure that Sasquatch didn't leak it. It was discovered on a ordering schedule of some kind. So, if anything, it is on Wizards.I thought the partner, Sasquatch games, leaked that.
I think we've had like 7 or 8 of these threads the past couple of weeks. Wizards hasn't announced anything yet, but we did get the description of the Elemental evil adventure and splatbook through Amazon a while back (it was since taken down).
WoTC will release fewer books for 5E. The release schedule will be sparse. That's the signal WoTC has given us, time and time again.
No offense to Olaf, but it really is like every 3 days for one of these threads.
No, they haven't said much. They are doing some columns on the website starting in January and some AP/Story stuff with 3rd parties. And a DM screen. Thats it for now.
The Feywild is most directly connected to the Forgotten Realms as far as published campaign sources go. There are also Eladrin a plenty in the realms. I would guess that this Wonderland one would probably be connected to the realms even if only tenuously. I have read several times that Apocalypse was in the Forgotten Realms here on enworld.org. And Mearls has said that the Forgotten Realms was the campaign area of main concern but even so there has been no announcements I know of for a main campaign book. That FR book is going to be a problem like many other posters have surmised. If they remove the Eladrin from the world it would irritate a lot of fans. If they keep them then the same thing will happen: many irritated fans. It is not just the Eladrin either as there were many new elements added in the last six years.Yeah, Princes of the Apocalypse is set in the FR, some river valley per Chris Perkins.
They have definitely said they are releasing stuff for other worlds though. The AP after Elemental Evil is said to be "Alice in Wonderland" vibe; I'm guessing Feywild.
I'd like to see what they could do with Dragonlance and Birthright, personally.
Hiya!
I'm pretty sure I read that EE is going to be placed in FR.That said, if they do it "the right way" (re: a way I like
), they will have it's background changed a bit. What I'd do is basically "give credit to where it came from" in the form of how it got into FR. My initial thought is something along the line of:
"On the world of Oerth, in a section of that world generally referred to as Greyhawk, arose a great evil. [insert very brief and loose description of what happened] Upon it's second attempted rise back up from the ruins, a hearty group of adventurers finally destroyed the temples masters, and in doing so disrupted the planar magics that were anchored in that fell place. Or so they believed... As the demons howled at their defeat, Zuggtmoy, thought destroyed, lashed out in an attempt to hold onto the moral world. She found a small tear between the planes, and through that arrived in Faerune. [insert new background on Temple of Elemental Evil]"
Basically, pay homage to the "original", and set up an entirely new background for the Forgotten Realms version. This would do a few things: First, it might get me to buy it. Second, it wouldn't annoy as many Greyhawk'ers (or may annoy them less), thus reducing "setting animosity" between fans...maybe. Third, it would give the FR a whole new "classic", without the FR fans feeling like they were getting hand-me-downs from their older brother. I think this would be a win/win situation. Personally, I'd liken it to the "newer" Star Trek movies...the "complete reboot" ones from '09 and '13; still Star Trek, same characters, different "realities" or "timelines" that allowed for following movies to not step on the toes of what had already been established for the series/older-movies.
Oh, and as for other Settings you missed: Lots.(Birthright, Dragonlance, Mystara, Maztica, Kara-Tur, Jakandor, ...here's a list of most "D&D" settings, not all owned by WotC, but anyways... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_&_Dragons_campaign_settings ). I'd like to see what they could do with Dragonlance and Birthright, personally.
