WotC's books are consistently ugly. Free League's books are consistently beautiful. Why is this given the former has far greater resources at their disposal?
I'm a big fan of Fria Ligan's aesthetic, and their games in general - imo, they are the best of the best, right now. That said, their aesthetic style is very atmospheric and thematic and tends toward a bit dark and gloomy (I mean, Scandinavia). I think WotC goes for broader appeal, and that D&D's overall tone isn't as dark.WotC's books are consistently ugly. Free League's books are consistently beautiful.
