Is there a FREE version of the 3.5 D&D font available? Thanks.

It's called Pterra , and after a bit of sifting through a yahoo search (I know, everyone googles, I try yahoo first) I found it here

Pterra is one of them, however, I think he was looking for Caslon 540.

That font itself is a clone and has, in turn, been cloned several times. Check alt.binaries.fonts The regular posters there know their stuff and are very helpful.

Pterra is not quite it. The font has too many pointy bits. Caslon 540 is the closest I've seen to D&D font but I can't find a free version of it. Thanks to all.

Actually I think the non-header font used for the text in the books is 'Celestial Antiqua'. The fonts used for numbers is 'Celestial Antiqua SC' which is an all capitals font (Thus the font might have been slightly modified in their books, but the look is spot on).

You are correct. Caslon 540 is a clone of Celestial Antiqua. Both of these hae been, in turn, cloned various times under different names.

The one used in the tables is FF Scala Sans, for the body text Celestia Antiqua, and for the headers Pterra. Those are not cheap to buy.

Caslon 540 isn't a replacement font for Celestia Antiqua, if you look closely at the CA font you'll see that all the lines are a bit 'wobbely', Caslon 540 is straight as an arrow.

Free Caslon 540 or similar clone. Anyone....anyone? I'm not going to spend real money just to get an "official" looking font for my house rules.
