WOTC Delegate Program- No Dungeons and Dragons Allowed

Interestingly enough, I just found out that the WOTC Delegate program does not support DnD. They support DnD Minis, but you cannot run DnD demos. My friend, who was accepted, decided to decline the position when he found out.

makes sense, D&D being an already popular line they want people to push their lesser lines.

That would make sense if they did not support Magic. They do support magic and the rest of their TCG stable and several board games to boot.

I guess DnD is just not worth much to them.

This is true - D&D is irrelevent when compared to Magic or (I imagine) the minis. And all other RPGs are irrelevent compared to D&D (possible exception for White Wolf).

I rejected it for that reason as well. Also, I didn't like the tone that the form presented (the one that they send you to fill out after you email them).

Ha. I doubt it.

Rather, I bet it has a lot to do with the fact that D&D is a whole seperate beast from the other types of games. Seems to me that they don't involve D&D is because they don't need to demo it. Why? RPGA. If you don't like that, then think of it this way.

D&D is MUCH more complicated, takes much longer, and requires more than just two people. That doesn't even take into account different types of houserules and other similar thing that come with D&D much more so than the other games. Like I said, its just a seperate beast when compared to the others. Not surprising at all, and doesn't say a single thing about it being worth this or that to anyone.

As someone who actually accepted the position I can tell you that this is incorrect. In fact, we are being specifically encouraged to run D&D RPG demos in February.

The document I read does not include DnD demos in their demo program.

I'm a bit curious about that myself, but I expect it to be addressed in the forthcoming updated handbook. I can promise you, though, that we are allowed and encouraged to run D&D RPG demos.

I had not formally disavowed myself, I had simply not responded.

TheBadElf, do you think they'd still accept an application (which I'd reply with if this was resolved)?
