WotC DnD Quintessential 3.X Collection

Heroes of Battle didn't impress me on first glance, but once I actually read it I was very impressed indeed.

Both Frostburn and Sandstorm are extraordinary, imho.

And throw me down as another vote for Lords of Madness.

When I first saw this, I thought you were suggesting that WotC should put out a set of three final 3.5 books that contain the best of the best of the best. They'd look through everything outside the core rules and compile it into a definitive compendium.

The best new spells, the best prestige classes, the best new monsters, feats, magic items, and new rules.

Skip all that mostly-useless fluff that filled a lot of recent books, and just put in the crunch that would make for the most awesome campaign possible. Of course you couldn't fit in everything -- no Bo9S because it's too integrated to be presented piecemeal -- but you could easily make the crunchiest damn book ever.

I wonder if it would sell.

I'm going to go ahead and make some adventure suggestions (cause I can):

Rappan Athuk Reloaded
The Freeport Trilogy (5th Anniversary Edition)
The Witchfire Trilogy (Collected Edition)

Not WotC but definitely 'must have' items.

Here's what I'd add to your list:
Eberron Campaign Setting
Book of Nine Swords
Monster Manual 5

I've gotten some seriously good mileage out of those books.
