WotC is skipping some books where errata could be issued. Do you feel...

1.) Errata is only required when extensive

2.) Errata in the CORE books (PH, MM, DMG) is of primary importance

3.) Errata is handled well enough by the community

4.) Errata should be issued for all books

5.) Errata should follow the release schedule

Two reasons why Errata should be given for every book by WotC:

1. Some people only go with official WotC rulings, so if there's a mistake and it's not in official errata, some groups won't accept it.

2. It's their freakin' mistake, so they should detail every last bit of errata for every last book they put out!

Anyway, such are my thoughts on the matter.

Well, I think the poll is poorly constructed for gathering more opinions.

OF COURSE all books SHOULD have errata published.
OF COURSE the core books are more important than the supplements.
OF COURSE etc.

Now, if you had asked for a rating of 1-10 on how important each is, well, that might tell you more.

WotC is separating minor omissions and typos as Errata, and rule ambiguities as FAQs. A lot of what people are asking for as Errata are rules clarifications and rulings on how occasional specific circumstances should be handled. These are being handled in the FAQ.

Now, it would be nice if the answers from WotC customer service did not sometimes contradict themselves.

In a perfect world, erratta would be unnecessary. This being the real world, I think it shoud be available for every book.

Why? Because there are many times that it could stave off arguments in a game. Some people are just... weird about what they'll house rule and what they won't.

My current DM had no problem house-ruling the snot out of Flanking so that it _seriously_ crimped my Thief-Acrobat's style. At the same time, even though he admits he thinks Sorcerers with metamagic feats get hit way too hard, he refused to consider that a 3.0* Sorcerer could use a metamagicked spell as a Full-Round Action rather than as a Full-Round Casting. And that is just based on subtle wording, let alone outright incorrect blurbs.

*This rule is better defined in 3.5, which is what the final arbiter of the rule became.

OF COURSE...

If I were as sure as you, I wouldn't have posed the questions... :p

I think you might be missing the point of the query, in that there are a number of permutations involved. It may boil down to varying definitions of what should be considered errata. It might be a matter of timeliness for some folks. It might be influenced by people desire to see a company move forward rather than devote resources to products already released. Many differing opinions may come from this and if people detail their stance extensively, I doubt any two will completely the same.

Post on! ;)
