3.5 person! That was laugh out loud at work funny.

I suppose the WOTC people have to keep it clear, as in Crystal Clear, that you are role playing and there is an explicit difference between you and your caracter. A friend of mine had a White Wolf book (vampire or mage?) that had a catchy disclaimer to that effect.
 

Generally we play in 1st person... but, if the DM continuously ignores a certain players actions (either intentionally <usually in jest> or just cause they're involved in some number crunching or quickly reviewing a prepared and upcoming event) we speak up, to put it mildly, and use 3rd person.
