WotC: Kindle/E-Fiction Books? When?

Uhm, the Kindle can read non-DRM mobi format e-books, and most other formats can be converted to mobi. You DON'T have to buy your books from Amazon.

ALL the PDFs I've been reading on the DX are DRM free. To tell the truth I don't think the Kindle DX can read DRM PDFs, but I could be wrong.

Does Amazon hope you will buy your books from them? Of course! But you don't need too.

I understand your rant, but it is misplaced in this case. If you want to rant about the excessive cost of the Kindle be my guest, I might just join you ;)

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about the point of his rant which had nothing to do with my initial topic but hey, via la internet or something.

While the Swords & Wizardry pdfs look excellent, there's something about their pdf encoding that makes page turning an agonizingly slow experience. I've tried reducing the size of the files but there's some strange text artifacts (i.e. a bunch of characters piled atop each other) I run into when I do that.

Yeah, think I have the same issue with Knockspell magazine. Course, its from the same folks. Wonder if Mythmere is using a different method them most in creating the PDFs?

With regards to the initial query... For whatever reason, I've noticed new releases to Kindle (or any ebook format) seem to have very little fanfare. One day I just discovered the Narnia books were there. Another day the core Tolkien works were there.

When did Wizards of the Coast release its Salvatore books? If it was only before the pdf pull I'd worry that they may be hesitant to do more.
