WotC Map-A-Week: GONE!

Phineas Crow makes excellent maps, and you can find his thread here. Look for post #114. He has a link to a zipped file with all 100 maps.

Just thought the community should know the bad news. :(
Hmm. I really don't know if it's bad news. The d20 Modern and Star Wars fan in me says, "If d20 Modern/Star Wars can't have Map-A-Week, then D&D shouldn't! W00t!"

* evil :] *

It's really a shame. I don't know about anyone else, but the Map-A-Week and the Free Original Adventures were the only two reasons I ever visited WotC's web-site. Occassionally, while I was there, I'd run across of an article or a new release that caught my eye... And then I'd watch for that product to come out in the stores and buy it ASAP.

Unfortunately, I now no longer have any good reason to visit the web-site in the first place... And probably won't.

:\

While i'm not a big map fan, I've noticed that they're getting rid of a lot of their articles. This was the last elite opponents. They've also ended the NPC spotlight. My fingers are crossed they've got some good stuff that will be replacing them.

the Art forum is full of maps... Perhaps this will encourage people even MORE to put up their various maps.

You're right, some of mine are even in there. Unfortunately, no one ever visits that section. I'd like to see something more official - maybe a link from the main page, and a repository like the gallery areas.

Admins, what do you think?

A thumbnail gallery would be great. Or perhaps a theme gallery or something along those lines. The Map-a-Week section took a bit of time to work through to find maps of a particular type.

Like a couple of others here, I only ever visited the WotC site to raid the Map-a-Week and Free Adventures section. Occassionally I stopped for a bit of a poke around if something else caught my eye.

I've also noticed that they've slowed down on the adventures for d20 Modern, and they never put back the adventure they only had up for a few hours before pulling it (Far Voices I think it was called, I'd have to check), but at least I grabbed a copy while it was up.

The free adventures were my big thing to go to the WotC site for as well (although I do like the Mind's Eye, I wonder how long it's going to last). I also liked the Spellbook column, too bad that one went away too.

It's a pity as it's one of the few things I'd used from the WotC site (apart from erratta). Oh, well its their site so they can choose what to do with it.
