They mention magic item sets. Was this ever done before in previous D&D editions? If not, I sense some majr Diablo II crossover - which is still a Good Thing (tm) :D

There were some in Dragon waaay back. Possibly in a "Silicon Sorcery" article or its equivalent.

Damn! Here I was, all ready to announce that the lack of previews for january was the final proof of the imminent release of 4e!

And you had to go and spoil it for me!

:D

/M

Don't let that stop you!

I'm here to proclaim that the fact that they have January previews is conclusive proof that 4E is on the way.

I so very much don't want to keep buying complete sets of minis. I don't have anywhere to keep'em all anymore!

But they keep showing me cool stuff like shield guardians and stone giant hurlers.

Maybe I shouldn't've lit that fire under'em to get those previews out after all.

Well, they may have appeared in the Diablo II books they released for D&D, and they might be reprinting them in this book.

Thanks, now you've reminded me about the existence of those dreadful books. And I was doing so well purging their memory from my mind since burying them at the bottom of the garden a long time ago :p.

Perhaps it's just me, but the Diablo supplements are hands-down the worst D&D books I've ever owned...

My memory is foggy, but I also recall a set that involved Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Belt of Giant Strength, and the Hammer of Thunderbolts...or something like that.

The book Materia Magica by Dark Nebulae had synergy outfits -- collections of magic items worn in conjunction with a synergy ring to produce additional effects.

Magic item sets... either kinda neat or really stupid. I'm leaning towards the latter :\

Hopefully they pull it off without making it... lame.

Me too. I really like the concept of item sets, but fear the execution.

Dragon had sets of artifacts in a SIlicon Sorcery for arcane casters. They seemed fairly well-executed.
