WotC release schedule thru 2005

No offense, but it's very clear that anyone who could write a statement like this doesn't write for a living.

Why do you think there are hundreds or thousands of wanna-be novelists for everyone one who makes it? Solid flavor (I refuse to use the word "fluff") is one of the hardest things in the world to write, if you want to do it well.

That's not me saying good crunch is easy; but it's nonsense to claim that good flavor's not just as hard.
Hear, hear.

I've spent two hours slaving over one lede, when I was trying to create a simple and clear hook for a complex issue.

I demo played this game last Summer at GenCon - Indy. It rocked! I had a really great time playing it and it's right up my alley when it comes to fantasy play (mythology over medieval fantasy).

Cheers!

Very glad you liked it. :) Hope that you find Heroes of Horror as much to your satisfaction.

I'm just gratified that they've finally announced the existence of Heroes of Horror...

Because it means I can finally tell people the name of the first WotC book I worked on. :D

Yes, HoH was my first WotC contract (though thankfully not the last). The other major freelancer on it was C.A. Suleiman. If our names look familiar when placed together, it's because we have co-credit on quite a few books, including Egyptian Adventures: Hamunaptra from Green Ronin, a number of Scarred Lands books, and many books for White Wolf's World of Darkness games. (Note: Not saying the two of us were the only writers on the book; just the only freelancers.)

As to what it's about, I can't tell you that. I can tell you that everyone assuming it's a Ravenloft retread is jumping to some seriously far-fetched conclusions. It's part of the same series as Heroes of Battle and Oriental Adventures for a reason. :)

Many, many congratulations, Mouseferatu! I'm very much looking forward to Heroes of Horror. :)

There's a reason that I ran Feast of Goblyns in the World of Greyhawk setting rather than the Ravenloft setting, and I'm hoping that reason also appears in Heroes of Horror - that horror is even more terrifying when it appears in an otherwise normal campaign.

That is, that Heroes of Horror allows one to play in a campaign dedicated to horror, or in a normal campaign where aspects of the genre are worked into occasional adventures.

Cheers!

Congrats, Ari!

Now...since you have an "in" at WotC, and since you've already done your own planar factions, please begin work on Planescape 3.5E.

Thanks!

;)

Man, I can't tell you how much I wish I had that kind of influence. :D

At the moment, I'm just the lowly freelancer who writes what he's told to write and waits anxiously every quarter to see if he's getting another assignment for the next few months.

However, my ultimate goal is to eventually get on staff and work my way up the ranks, so we'll see what happens. ;)

Some pretty decent news coming out of WotC. I'm an FR fan, so I'll definitely be getting the two listed FR books (though that Champions of Valor, along with Champions of Ruin, looks to be among the least useful of the bunch) - and an actual FR adventure (an adventure path, no less) is going to rock. Nice to see WotC getting back into adventures more regularly now. Great news, there! (Though, like others, I do wish for more geographical accessories - nothing on Lantan, Nimbral, or Sossal yet...)

And I'm very, very intrigued with those two "Fantastic Location" books. If they are what MerricB thinks they are, I'll be getting those in a second. That's exactly the type of book I want nowadays (character-related books are completely valueless to me).

but it also gives a bunch of new feats, spells, magic items,
Annnnd... confirmed. Even listed in virtually the same order that I do when I complain about them. Unfortunate. (The other stuff sounds good, though, so I'll definitely pick this book up.)

Ugh, it's people like this that make people like me lose out on the crunch material
Damn straight. And I'll continue to do so.
