WotC releases for March 2007: Cormyr, Magic Items, Star Wars RPG

Looks like you'll be getting both of my books in the next 8 months. You never know, but I think people will be quite happy with the MIC, regardless of their current conceptions of what it will contain.

MIC I have no intentions of buying, I already have nearly all the original sources of where the items come from, just like I did with the spells in Spell Compendium. Only reason I got that $40 book was cause I needed the errata'd material in it (which was most of the book). Which still sickens me to this day cause errata should be free, not something we have to pay for.

As for Cormyr: A Tearing of the Weave, I'll have to look at it first. Mysteries of the Moonsea has left a very sour taste with the way FR books have been coming lately. Compared to the Eberron books, I can see where all their work is really going towards. :\

Of the three books, the only one I'll buy is the Magic Item Compendium. IMO, it's handy to all the items in the one book if it means not having to carry X amount of books just for the items.

Another useful feature (for me at least) would be having all the items in one set of random item tables.

Yeah, i've seen lots of nifty magic items in other books that I regretted using because they weren't on any treasure table. Now, as long as this MIC contains a treasure table for wonderous items, all should be good.

Let's see here:

CORMYR: A Tearing of the Weave: Another FR adventure? Jeez, when are they going to do something different or go back to regional books? I'd like to see more regional books, possibly a Faiths&Pantheons 2, Magic of Faerun 2, a 3rd Edition Giantcraft, there's so many things they can do. But yet another adventure book? Bleh. We have Twilight Tomb coming after Dragons of Faerun and then this Cormyr one.

A lot of people are assuming that the MIC will be organized in the same way as the Spell Compendium, only including reprints, updates, removal of setting specific elements, and errated versions of spells compiled from a million different sources. While I can't officially say that they're wrong, I would suggest that people not assume that this book follows the same format as others. Andy Collins' post over on the WOTC future release board (which is unfortunately down at the moment) hints at one of the goals of the book.

Well after skimming SC, I can say that I do like the layout. The MIC is going to be a must buy, because it whittles down the work of doing it myself (as I was planning on doing (I loves me some magic items)). And if the MIC is anything like the SC then it'll contain new items too.

Actually, the SC contained no new spells. However, it did demonstrate just how many spells you'd missed in previous sources...

I love, love, love the Spell Compendium. It's a "must have" for my gaming groups. The MIC is going to be something that I'm very much looking forward to. I definitely underuse new magic items in my campaigns.
