WotC Sneak Peek Seminar

The problem is, a Gencon seminar inevitably gets data from "gamers most likely to go to Gencon" and subscriber feedback gets data from "people who are likely to subscribe or buy Dungeon or Dragon".
Luckily, WotC doesn't base it's development strategy solely on what 35 people say at a GenCon seminar. :) They do hella market research.

Listen to the very end he says Four is coming out after September 2007.... transcribed from the video

"...line of third edition three point five products coming out, erm Four. Products that sort of contine...."

I might have got my puctuation slightly wrong.

Oh and my spelling.

"products coming out... for products that sort..."

yeah, knocking the nostalgia material is kinda assinine in my opinion because its not like WOTC isn't doing new material like Red Hand of Doom, the original Dungeon Path, Sons of Gruumsh etc. For every rehash adventure, WOTC is releasing 2 or 3 original adventures if you count the mini crossover adventures as well.

You mean "Expedition to the Return of the Red Hand of Doom" don't you?

I am actually really enjoying the idea of these throwback modules, some of which I remember playing when I was in Jr High, and some I never had the chance to run (e.g. Ravenloft). I look forward to all of them, with all the conversion work done for me. :)

Teitan has a point: Wizards of the Coast might be putting out Expedition to Castle Ravenloft and Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, but they're also putting out Barrow of the Forgotten King (first in a three-part series of adventures), Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave (first in a three-part series of Forgotten Realms superadventures), and Curse of the Dragon's Eye (an Eberron superadventure).

I predict we'll be seeing a Return of the Red Hand of Doom in 4E or 5E, as well as some of the Adventure Path modules.

I've been surprised that the Adventure Path that debuted with 3.0 never made it to a compilled 3.5 super adventure. With all the new adventurers, I was sure they'd update the old 3.0 material and change it's format.

Same here :) I'm hoping they do a 3.5 Giants series adventure. That would be cool.

Mike

Would be a good theme for a year actually. Year of the Giants could see:

Expedition Against The Giants (1 super 224 page module, or perhaps 3 160 page modules. I know I'd buy 3!)
A monster book on Giants (a la Draconomicon)
Giantcraft for the Forgotten Realms (160 page)
A huge set for the miniatures line including some new figures of the basic giants (Fire, Frost, Storm) as well as others not yet covered (that I know of) like Cloud, Mountain, Sand, Phaerlinn, Fomorian etc.

I know I'm in the minority here but I get bored just thinking about a Year of the Giants. For petes sake people, we have five monster manuals (including the Fiend Folio) full of unbelievable monsters and all people can think about is Dragons and Giants? Color me unimpressed.
