WotC to print Dragon and Dungeon in some format?

For those who haven't noticed, Russ has posted the interview with several WotC staffers on the front page. Quite a few questions were answered (and quite a few were not), but what especially intrigued me was this segment:

What will happen to the DRAGON and DUNGEON brand names? Will they be transferred directly across to the new platform in some manner, or will they become defunct?

Chris [Perkins]: These brand names have tremendous value and we intend to use them moving forward.

What is the likelihood of seeing new online material being compiled in hardcopy format - perhaps an annual magazine, book or compendium?

Bill [Slavicsek]: Sounds like a great idea! In fact, it’s been part of our plans all along.

Could our favorite magazines live on in some print format somehow? Please let it be so!

I would expect to see an annual "Best of Dragon" that compiled the cream of the rules-related goodness from online and a "Dungeon Annual" for the best of the adventure side. Actually, WotC may continue the Adventure Path idea on line and do a hardbound at the completion of each one. That would rock mightily, IMO.

That depends. They're going to print ALL of -- not some or "the best of" -- the online articles, bind them in one neat package for a cover price of $30?

That remains to be seen. :\

P.S. I don't trust online subscribers to tell WotC what selective articles the rest of us should read in print.

Totally agreeing. I'd even be content with quarter-yearly compilations (as long as they're more-or-less complete. No need for "How to Play: Rogues"-guides, but the rest... yeah!).

I saw that and was very pleased.

A printed compilation from what previously appeared in their DI (and, for me, it doesn't have to be 'complete and exhaustive')? I'm all for that.

Very good news (I hope)!
