And being an old-timer myself, that's something I shoulda remembered. Alas, memory failed as I wrote the post, resulting in the overly-long substitution for "subdue."

I blame TV. And video games. And caffeine. And decaf coffee. And.... ;)
Quite understandable. Just remember to hit it with the flat of your blade and you'll be okay.

Perhaps only at the older age categories.

Probably. Dragons can encompass different roles, it seems, so maybe they can encompass different tiers. Good news actually: if monster roles and tiers are not set in stone, it makes life a lot easier for the enterprising DM.

(Why is it the monster stuff that has proved to be the most interesting to me?)

I was actually quite surprised to hear that dragons would have different roles in 4e (some are skirmishers, some lurkers, some brutes...) and that all could be used as hostile encounters, regardless of color. I'd assumed they would all be solo brutes, but this is definitely welcome twist.

Heh, because that is the only thing we've seen any decent crunch on!

It'll be interesting to find out (when the module is published) why a priest of Bahamut is so keen to assassinate the high priest of Moradin. Isn't Bahamut the de facto god of Paladins? There must be some mind control or doppleganging going on here.

Taking away alignment lends to some interesting options... Like corrupt priests who care more about personal power then the will of their god...
