Wotc_Huscarl on the Biggie Smalls playtest, part 6.

This is the second playtest report where a 2nd level party easily takes down a dragon and is still in good enough shape for further combats (or is after a big combat still strong enough to take down a dragon when being unprepared).

I am likely alone with this opinion but I am very disappointed when in 4E such low level PCs can take down iconic creatures so easily.
Recall that in the first 3rd edition adventure released by WotC, The Sunless Citadel, the PCs fight a dragon. When they encounter it, they'll be level 1, perhaps level 2 if they're lucky.

Fighting dragons at low levels is not anything unique to 4E.

And being an old-timer myself, that's something I shoulda remembered. Alas, memory failed as I wrote the post, resulting in the overly-long substitution for "subdue."

I blame TV. And video games. And caffeine. And decaf coffee. And.... ;)
I actually blame most of my problems on decaf coffee. Perhaps we're onto something there.

The dragon fight with the Bronze Dragon sounded pretty climactic, actually. In fact someone almost died.

Which bronze dragon fight? I only know of a copper one and this white dragon.
And just because someone nearly died doesn't mean that it is climatic.

Sorry, sorry, Copper dragon.

Where was the White?

Also, the battle was climactic given the place, and how the ship exploded, and I don't know - the way it was described made it seem fairly climactic to mee.

Now that I read it again it never says that it is a white one...
I meant the dragon combat in this report here (people assumed that it was a white one because of the stunning breath weapon).
The problem that I have with the copper dragon fight is that it happened after a big hobgoblin fight and the players apparently weren't really worried to fight a dragon after this encounter.
And that the ship blowing up might have been a Deus Ex Machina to save them and not a real part of the fight.
