My favorite homebrew monster is the Oobleck.

It's basically a mud golem, but it's made out of the nominal oobleck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oobleck), cornstarch mixed with water, which turns solid the harder you hit it but stays liquid if you apply less pressure.

So basically the oobleck is a slow, low-damage monster with INVERSE damage reduction - it takes full damage from anything that deals 5 or less total damage to it, but is immune to any hits that would take off more than 5 HP (because it hardens and deflects the blow). It's also immune to all magic.

I expect to see it in the PHB, guys.

I am doing this right now. If I can't fit it into the PH manuscript, I'm going to tack it to the inside cover of each book after they come back from the printer.
