I didn't like AQ's use of the standard PC races - dwarves, elves, etc. An Arabian setting needs Arabian races - or just humans.

I thought that was really nifty – enlightened elves, dwarves, and ogres etc all happily puffing on a hookah together.

and AQ has the wonderful advantage of potentially spawning, by implication, an entire well-integrated, flavorful circa-9th-century fantasy Earth.

We did something similar in the 3e AQ campaign I played in - my PC was Sir Rolan Furioso, a Franconian crusader. I think the GM had to work quite hard to stop the locals killing me...

1.) Right on, I work in Balham (NHS), and I used to work at St George's.


2.) Definitely, I've been DMing a Planescape campaign for the last 2 years or so, and I would love to take a shot at being a player (for once!) and check out the system.
