WotC's new layout....better or worse?

I'm looking at WotC's new layout and I have to say I'm relieved.

I had one thought when I looked at the old layout - Nickelodeon. It looked to me as if they were trying to attract young people. That is legitmate, but when the average age of the D&D player is now in the late 20's it seems they would want to appeal to a demographic above the age of 12.

I like the new layout. I think it can appeal to old and young. Anyone else?

The new layout looks promising, but the Magic link takes me to a "language selection" screen first, and then the Magic area. That's a minor annoyance.

And I can't get the D&D link to work. The screen takes a long time to come up, and then it's blank. That's a major annoyance. Anyone else have this problem? This is on a Win XP Professional machine. I'll try it again tonight on a Win 2000 Professional machine.

I am assuming you are talking about the website. "WotC" is pretty general...

At any rate, I'm just happy they killed the splash screens when going to the obvious url (www.wizards.com/dnd). Simple pleasures and all, but I hated clicking through that splash screen when trying to get to the D&D page.

The updated site works great! Much better in the navigation department. I agree with SemperJase the new site will appeal to both old folks like me and the younger folks.

Actually the percentages seem to indicate that the general age of gamers is around 30ish (1.).

Personally I think that although the new layout is better, and I even think pages may load a little faster, ultimately I don't feel the change warrants a 'Hip, hip, hooray!'

I think it's just an improvement on a sub-par site. Has anyone else noticed that their product library is horrible. I can't just look for D&D game books without getting novels, etc. There is still AD&D stuff within the product library. I can't find miniatures anywhere on the site. The archives for some areas are comlete somedays and incomplete others.

The product library definitively needs to be re-done. It is no so difficult, anybody with some knowledge of databases (like MySQL) and a script language like PHP or ASP could do it better without a big effort. It's an organisation thing, that library is completly chaotic. Of course, IMHO and YMMV, please take no offense.
