D&D General Would the oceans of silt in Dark Sun blow up a lot of dust into the atmosphere? Would we be choking on dust or would the sun be blotted out?

Another possibility: take a look at real-world desert pavement. The prevailing theory is the wind blows across the dry surface, it picks up the finest particles first. The larger, heavier particles stay behind and fall downward, consolidating and eventually interlocking together to create a hard rocky surface that eventually seals off the sand, silt, and clay particles beneath it.

Despite the name the Silt in Dark Sun isn't really the same thing as silt in real geology. It's more like 'what if water was made of dust instead of water'
