Would Wild Spellcraft work well for portraying the wild mages of FR's Longsaddle?

Well, I'm not familiar with Longsaddle, but Wild Spellcraft would work just fine for portraying wild magic as I've always understood it in the Realms.

the only thing i remember reading about Longsaddle is that it's the home of the Harpell family of wizards. where did you read that there are wild mages in Longsaddle?

The Harpells were always a little quirky in their spellcasting, so yeah, the rules in Wild Spellcraft could definitely help. I'd encourage you to use the exotic and bizarre mishap rules (the tables that have the whacky results).

However, Wild Spellcraft also has a good deal of info on new spells that fiddle with chaos, randomness, and probability. Though the Harpells are not your standard wizards, they didn't precisely try to master wild magic. Thus, not all of the book would be appropriate for the Harpells, but I'm sure you'd be able to find uses for it.

But I can certainly see one of the Harpells using Rhodin's Ryhming Doom!

"Oh, no! An army of oranges!"

I think Wild Spellcraft will work great for this. There are a lot of options in the book, so it really fits a lot of different types of Wild Magic.
