Would you buy "d20 Future"

We all know that D20 Modern is coming out later this year. The people at WotC have stated that they might consider creating a D20 Future if d20 Modern is successful. Personally, I wish they'd reverse the order and do Sci-Fi first but it's too late for that.

My question is this: Who among you would buy a D20 Future supplement, one specifically written to allow you to play Sci-Fi campaigns? Why or why not?

How important is it that WotC be the company to produce it? What if, say, Sword & Sorcery Studios (White Wolf), or Fantasy Flight Games were to write it?

What would you look for in such a product? Should settings be produced separately from the rules set?

FFG's got Dragonstar. That's the best out so far for SCi/fi. If the rules were standardized more, I would definately put money on either the DS campaign or a Warhammer 40k world.

Yes I would purchase such a product if it were released. I think d20 Traveller should be out soon which will be nice for true sci-fi and not space opera fans.

I'd buy d20 future faster than I would buy d20 modern and I'm goi8ng to buy d20 modern as soon as it comes out.

Dragonstar is great, my favorite fantasy setting of all time, but still, I want true sci-fi, I wanna see the kind of stuff Alternity had, done in D20.

MMmmmm d20 Psi rules for real. *drools*

Yeah Sci-Fi can be very tough to get right. Especially if its supposed to do all the various styles of sci-fi from Hard SciFi to Space Opera. :) Hopefully they will get it right...

I don't know... D20 modern could be so easily converted to Sci-fi. All you really have to do is add laser guns (or something similar) and space ships.

It'd be like taking a D20 Medieval game, and adding magic to get D&D.

All in all, I'd probably buy one or the other, but not both.

Well i for one would gladly buy a D20 Future book.

Dragonstar of FFG's is also great though their are a few balance issues my group feels, but nothing major that can;t be resolved by any GM with a little common sense.

Theres also mongooses Judge Dredd imminent, AEG's Farscape, and Quiklinks traveller D20.whose rulebook will actually be more of a generic Sci Fi rulebook btw, the Traveller setting book will be separate.

so theres quite a bit on the Sci Fi horizon turning up...but i'm sure we'd all like to see our favourite settings like WH40k, Stargate, Babylon 5 etc.. also turned into proper D20 RPg's or settings.

I for one would pay good money for a Babylon 5 D20 rulebook

Personally, I wish there is no need for "d20 Future" if all of the rules are going to be in d20 Modern. Sorry, but I prefer to use this one set of rules for all genre from fantasy to futuristics, from cinematic to horror, etc.

I probably wouldn't, for the reason stated above.

Should not important to WotC, since they can make futuristics supplement to go with the d20 Modern.

If others want to, go ahead. If anything, it will be based on OGC extracted from d20 Modern rules.

That depends. But usually, you try to add campaign information to the rules set so it can make for an entire game to play, sort of a starting campaign setting for newbies and veterans alike.

Quite frankly, no. Better invest in Traveller d20, Dragonstar, or even Fading Suns. I found Star Wars d20 a rather poor game and currently, I am not have much expectatives about d20 modern or sci-fi. I think that WotC d20 developing team is in the wrong way introducing VP/WP and, principally, using defense and hit points in the same game. As such, I don't really have much reasons to look forward their new offerings.

At least CoCd20 was well designed, but for what I heard d20 modern will be a complete different beast.
