But sometimes you just want a table.

Most of the time, I guess (or maybe all the time for most people?). If not, the market for carpenter-made furniture would be much larger than what it is currently (roughly 10% in value, and they tend to be more expensive, so probably even less in volume).

AI being unethically sourced, AI being bad for artists, AI being bad for art as a cultural element, and AI being bad for demotivating people from personal growth are certainly all related, but the topics do become over-jumbled.

I feel there would be a lot more nuance available if the core of it wasn't through works used without consent and for a profit.

This isn't inherent to AI, though. In the realm of generative images, while it is true that ChatGPT is one the most powerful solutions because of its interface, open source LLM that you can get and run for free on your own computer are as good or even better depending on what you want to draw. I havent paid anything for the character portraits or illustrations of campaign journal I mentionned earlier.

Fair. The specs needed to run locally have proven to be low enough that a gaming PC is more than enough.
