Would you have bought the class compendium?

I would have bought it. It wouldn't have replaced the PHB1 as a rules reference, but for character-building having less cruft to wade through would be nice, as would having everything updated.

I'll also note (somewhat off-topic, maybe) that if it was printed in the 6x9 trade paperback format I would have bought it even if it wasn't useful to me (as I kind of did with the DM's kit). I made a deliberate decision to "vote with my wallet" for the format because it's just so much more convenient for actual play.

Almost certainly not. I DM almost exclusively, so I wouldn't really need it. When I want PC info, I get it from the compendium.

From the description, I thought that in addition to the updated version of PHB1 classes, we were getting an Essential Warlord.

Saw no hint of this in what was posted so far.

So, I would've bought the back, but then been disappointing.

It depends.

Merely a reprint of stuff already in book form with some errata? Probably not.

Classes, feats & powers never in print form before? definitely.

based on the types of things presented so far, as an owner of the original PHB1 i would not have the class compendium.

if i didn't already own phb1 or if there was other/new information presented, then i'd be more likley to consider it depending on the price point.

I voted no, but my primary reason is completely different. As long as I subscribe to DDI, I see no reason to buy any rule books. I might buy a campaign resource, or a DMG style book, but not rule books that expand character options, and will appear in compendium and CB.

^this

But I voted maybe, as sometimes a book is handy for Players... But actually my players are not in the slightest interested in reading books... so DDI is good enough for me.

I might have gone for a cleaned up play experience. However, the class compendium doesn't look like it would have been that; just minor changes - so I voted no.

So far we have only seen two classes that really did not need fixing in the PHBI.

If the warlock and paladin were to gt an actual bit of powerup, I would be all over it.

As it is now, maybe, but not likely.
